Dhaka, March 12: A US-Bangla airliner crashed on Monday after making an unexpected turn in cloudy weather as it came in to land at the airport in Nepal’s capital, killing at least 50 people.
The aircraft with call sign S2-AGU took off from Dhaka at 12:51pm and crashed on landing at TIA at 2:20 pm (Nepal Time).
There were 71 people on board the US-Bangla Airlines plane arriving from Dhaka when it clipped the fence at Kathmandu and burst into flames.
There were 67 passengers in the plane, of them 47 were Bangladeshi nationals, 19 Nepalese and 1 Chinese. There were 4 flight crew alongside the passengers.
32 passengers died on the spot whereas 22 were admitted to hospitals.
