Nilphamari’s Sheikh Kamal Stadium debuts in BPL

Nilphamari: Country’s northern district Nilphamari for the first time has hosted a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match on Wednesday.

Nilphamari Sheikh Kamal Stadium has been crowned as a BPL hosting ground as today a league match between Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Abahani Ltd took place at the stadium.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, Bangladesh Football Federation President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin and BFF Executive Committee members were present in the inaugural ceremony held before the match.

Nilphamari Sheikh Kamal Stadium has also been introduced as the home venue of Bashundhara Kings.

A large number of football fans have enjoyed the exciting match that finally won by the Kings by 3-0.

It is already known that Bashundhara’s Spanish coach Oscar Bruzon likes aggressive football. With the 4-3-3 formation in this match, Bashundhara could have a lead at 14 minutes if Abahani goalkeeper Sohel could not make a great save.

At the 32nd minute, Bashundhara’s another shot returned from the crossbar. 11 minutes later, Abahani’s Nigerian striker Sunday Chizoba missed a penalty shot. However, Bashundhara defender Nasiruddin secured a 1-0 lead for the Kings just before the break.

As the match came at its 60, Bashundhara made the score 2-0 when striker Motin made no mistake to net the ball passed by Brazilian midfielder Vinicius.

9 minutes later, the ball came to Bakhtiyar Dushbekov’s feet and he passed it to Colindres who easily changed the score line to 3-0 with a simple chip.

With this second consecutive win in the league, the Kings are on the top of the point table.
