Dhaka, December 23: Bangladesh will square-off against India in the final match of the SAFF U15 Women’s Championship 2017 scheduled to kick-off at 2:00 pm in BSSSM Mostofa Kamal Stadium, Kamlapur in Dhaka on Sunday.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith is expected to be present in the stadium to enjoy the final match as the chief guest and distribute the prizes.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder MP, Deputy Minister Arif Khan Joy, BFF President also president of South Asian Football Federation Kazi M Salahuddin, FIFA councilor member Mahfuza Akter Kiron and SAFF general secretary Anwarul Haque Helal will also be present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, all the gates of the stadium will remain open for the mass to enjoy the exciting final.
In the pre-match presser at the BFF House on Saturday, Bangladesh skipper Maria Manda pledged to claim the championship trophy for the nation but her counterpart Bannya Kabiraj warned Bangladesh to face a different India in the title decider.
Bangladesh’s 3-0 win over India in the last match of the round robin league phase dominated the conversations in the presser. “It was morale booster for us and we want to keep our winning streak continuing, we have won three matches and are confident of winning another and the title, India is a strong opponent but we will appear stronger to be the champions” said Maria Manda, the hardworking midfielder.
Bannya Kabiraj however wanted to forget the past. “We want to forge the last match, we will be firing all cylinders and will launch allout attack to win the title, we want to set right the mistakes we have committed and we are ready to challenge Bangladesh, every team wants to win the title, we are no exception” said Bannya, also an midfielder.
Earlier, Bangladesh got off to a winning start in the tournament as they thrashed Nepal 6-0 in their opening game and then beat Bhutan 3-0 in their second fixture of the regional age-group championship.
The girls’ in red and green continued their unbeaten streak as the beat India 3-0 in their third league phase match.
On the other hand, India beat Bhutan 3-0 in their opening match and blew away Nepal by 10 goals to nil in their second match before they suffered a 0-3 defeat to host Bangladesh.
