Dhaka: The Second Division Football League, organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Football League Committee (DMFLC) under the supervision of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), will kick-off on Sunday, March 24 with 13 teams at the Birsreshtha Shahid Sipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium at Dhaka’s Kamalapur.
The 13 teams participating in the league are Tongi Krira Chakra, Purbachal Parishad, Azampur Football Club Uttara, Little Friends Club, City Club, Samaj Kalyan o Krira Sangsad Mugda, East End Club, BG Press S&RC, Shantinagar Club, Dilkusha Sporting Club, BKSP, Khilgaon Football Academy and Gouripur Sporting Club.
One the first day of the league, Tongi Krira Chakra will face Gouripur Sporting Club at 3:45pm on March 24.
Ahead of the start of the league, a press conference was held at the BFF House in Motijheel, Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Mohidur Rahman Miraj, Deputy Chairman of DMFLC and Secretary of 2nd Division League Committee, Haji Nazrul Islam Nozu, Member of DMFLC and Vice-Chairman of 2nd Division League Committee and representatives of all thirteen clubs of the 2nd Division Football League were present at the press conference.
The opening ceremony and first match between Tongi Krira Chakra and Gouripur Sporting Club will be held at the BSSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur, Dhaka.
Honourable Youth and Sports state minister Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP will be present during the opening ceremony as the chief guest.
This season, 13 teams are participating in the DMFLC Second Division Football League who have already received participation money from the BFF.
At the end of the season, the top two teams will be awarded the Champions and Runners-up trophy.
The tournament will go on according to single league format and a total of 78 matches will be played in total.
At the end of the season, the top three teams will be promoted to the DMFLC Senior Division Football League whereas the bottom team will be relegated to the Third Division.
The player registration process for the DMFLC Second Division Football League 2018-19 went on February 25, 2019 to March 5, 2019. A total of 244 players registered for the 13 participating clubs among whom, 122 players are new (as of March 19, 2019).
