Dhaka, December 5: Sheikh Russell held table topper Chittgaong Abahoni 2-2 in a evenly contested match of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Sheikh Russell who lost 1-3 to the port city side in the first phase went up in the sixth minute with the strike of midfielder Monaem Khan Raju. His low right footer from the edge of the box gave Abahani custodian Rana no chance to react (1-0).
Abahani clawed their way back into the game in the 43rd minute with Lionel Saint Preux slamming the equalizer with a fierce side volley (1-1).
The port city outfit continued their dominance to score the second in the 83rd minute as winger Zahid Hossain’s diving header on a low cross of Abdullah put them on a two goal cushion (2-1).
But Uttam Banik ruined the planned party of Abahani heading the equalizer four minutes off the stipulated time (2-2).
