DMFLC 2nd Division Football League begins

Dhaka: The Second Division Football League, organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Football League Committee (DMFLC) under the supervision of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), began on Sunday with the opening clash between Tongi Krira Chakra and Gouripur Sporting Club.

Honourable Youth and Sports state minister Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP was present at the opening ceremony as the chief guest.

Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, vice-president of BFF, Abdur Rahim, BFF ExCo member and vice-chairman of BFF Professional Football League Committee, Md Elias Hossain, BFF ExCo member and member of BFF Professional Football League Committee, Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, general secretary of BFF, Mohidur Rahman Miraj, deputy chairman of DMFLC and secretary of 2nd Division League Committee were also present at the occasion as chief guests.

On the opening day, Tongi Krira Chakra beat Gouripur Sporting Club 2-0 at the BSSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur, Dhaka thanks to goals from Uzzal and Musha.

This season, a total of 13 teams are participating in the DMFLC Second Division Football League.

The 13 teams participating in the league are Tongi Krira Chakra, Purbachal Parishad, Azampur Football Club Uttara, Little Friends Club, City Club, Samaj Kalyan o Krira Sangsad Mugda, East End Club, BG Press S&RC, Shantinagar Club, Dilkusha Sporting Club, BKSP, Khilgaon Football Academy and Gouripur Sporting Club.

All these teams have already received participation money from the BFF.

At the end of the season, the top two teams will be awarded the Champions and Runners-up trophy.

The tournament will go on according to single league format and a total of 78 matches will be played in total.

At the end of the season, the top three teams will be promoted to the DMFLC Senior Division Football League whereas the bottom team will be relegated to the Third Division.

The player registration process for the DMFLC Second Division Football League 2018-19 went on February 25, 2019 to March 5, 2019. A total of 244 players registered for the 13 participating clubs among whom, 122 players are new (as of March 19, 2019).
