AFC U16W Championship draw: Bengal girls up for tough challenge in group A

Bangladesh U16 Women’s team have got real challenges in the upcoming AFC U16 Women’s Championship 2019 as the official draw of the tournament was held in Thailand city Chon Buri on Thursday (today). The draw for the tournament’s eighth edition was held during a gala ceremony at Chon Buri’s Oakwood Hotel this noon. The two week long tournament will be unveiled on September 15 while the game will end on September 28. Bangladesh, with their outstanding performance, qualified for this prestigious biennial tournament for the second successive year. The other contesting teams are Australia, Japan, China, South Korea, North Korea, Vietnam and hosts Thailand. But, before taking the Japan challenge, the Maria and Co will have to play against hosts Thailand on their own ground. Therefore, the football lovers can hope that there will be mouthwatering football clashes in group A. Thailand, who are organizing the tournament for the second consecutive terms, will challenge the Bengal girls on the second day of the tournament. The top two teams in each group will progress to the semi-finals, with the two eventual finalists – who will both go on to represent Asia at FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2020 – to play off for the title on September 28.
