Bangabandhu Gold Cup from Oct 1

Dhaka: The Bangabandhu Gold Cup 2018 is scheduled to be held from October 1-15, according to a decision by the Executive Committee of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). The decision came at the 12th general meeting of the BFF Executive Committee (EC), chaired by BFF President Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed, held at 2:00pm at the BFF House on Thursday. The EC decided that the tournament will be held this October with the participation of 6 teams, including Bangladesh. K Sports has been given the rights to arrange the tournament. Some other important decisions were also taken at the meeting. The contract of BFF’s National Technical & Strategic Director Paul Thomas Smalley has been extended to another year. Also, the contract of BFF General Secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag was extended to 3 more years. BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy was named the chairman, and vice president Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP the deputy chairman of the local organizing committee of the upcoming SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018 schedule to be held from September 4-15, 2018 in Dhaka. The EC also gave away directions to try and provide the best possible facilities to the U15 and U16 women’s teams to come away with good results from the SAFF U15 Women’s Championship 2018 and AFC U16 Women’s Championship 2019 qualifiers. Moreover, the punishment of football coach Kamal Babu was also reduced upon agreement of the EC members.
