Bangladesh to play two friendly matches during Thailand camp

Bangladesh national team will begin their journey towards the qualifying round of FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 with the match against Laos in the pre-qualifier phase. In this phase, Bangladesh and Laos will face each other twice. The first leg will be held in Laos capital Vientiane on June 6 while the second leg is scheduled to be in Dhaka on June 11. As a part of the boys’ sound preparation ahead of the Laos tour, Bangladesh Football Federation has organized two friendly matches against two Thai Premier League Clubs in their home grounds ahead of the pre-qualifiers. The two clubs are – Air Force United Football Club and BG Pathum United FC. Bangladesh team will leave Dhaka for Thailand on May 24 while the matches are scheduled to be held on May 28 and June 1. Air Force United, founded in 1937, have been one of the most successful Thai football clubs. It was known as Air Force Central FC. However, they changed their name this year. Though the team is now playing in the Thai Football League 2, they had won two Thai League 1 titles and one Thai League 2 title. Besides, they won prestigious Queen’s Cup and FA Cup each three times. It will be a great experience for the Bengal boys to play against an 82 years old club. While the Air Force United had a long history, another club BG Pathum United Football Club has been founded only 13 years back. The club is currently playing at Thai League 2 after getting relegated from Thai League 1 last year. They became runners-up in Thai Premier League twice only in 13 years. Moreover, they were runners-up in the League cup last year. On May 28, Bangladesh will play against Air Force United FC before squaring off against BG Pathum United FC on June 1. The players and staff will be eager to register victories in the friendly matches to boost up their confidence level and get the momentum going.
