Farashganj held by T&T, Victoria win seven goal thriller

Dhaka: Farashganj Sporting Club had to draw with T&T Club 1-1 while Victoria Sporting Club finally won the seven-goal match over Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club in the ongoing season of Bangladesh Championship League on Thursday. Both the matches were held at Bir Sreshtha Shahid Sipahee Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital’s Kamalapur. In Farashganj-T&T match, T&T took the lead at first. They got it at the 15th minutes with Hafizuddin’s goal. They even held it throughout the first half. But, at the 53rd minute, Farashganj forward Zillur Rahman came up to rescue his team. After that, neither team could score a single goal. Therefore, both the teams had to be satisfied with only one point for each. On the other hand, Victoria and the Young Men’s just turned their match into a goal scoring festival. Interestingly, the teams scored six of their seven goals in the first time. Victoria’s Hanif began the competition at the 8th minute with scoring his first goal. 7 minutes later, his teammate Mehedi came up to double the difference. However, their one sided supremacy lasted only two minutes as Young Man Khandakar scored on behalf of his time at the 17th minute. Just the next minute, Victoria’s Rony netted his only goal to make the score line 3-1. At the 39th minute, Hanif scored his second goal. And with this goal, it was almost written that the Young Men would not make a comeback story. Yes, they could not. But they showed that they could if their luck would do them just a little favor. Fakirerpool got their second goal from Jibon’s feet at the second additional minute of the first half. And Parvez came up to make the difference least one scoring at the 48th minute of the game. After today’s matches, Victoria beat Farashganj in the race of occupying the second place of the point table. Victoria is now at the second position with 25 points from 18 matches while Farashganj is the third with one point less from the same number of matches. On the other hand Fakirerpool and T&T were not much affected by today’s results. They are at the 8th and 9th places respectively.
