Ordinary Congress 2023 (SAFF)

The SAFF Ordinary Congress held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dhaka on 6 May elected Ali Umar from Football Association of Maldives and Sundar Narsingh Joshi from All Nepal Football Association as the vice presidents of the SAFF.
The duo were elected unopposed by the congress for the remaining term of 2022-2026. The position had remained vacant since the last congress on 2 July 2022.
Likewise, AIFF General Secretary Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran was elected as the SAFF representative at the AFC Executive Committee for the term of 2023-2027.
Earlier, the SAFF Executive Committee meeting held discussions on the upcoming 14th SAFF Championship which is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru, India, from 21 June – 4 July.
The committee decided to wait till 15 May 2023 to find another team for the competition as agreed in the previous executive meeting to invite teams outside the SAFF region. So far, seven teams have been confirmed for the championship with the confirmation coming in from Kuwait.
The meeting also sketched a plan on organizing the first ever SAFF Club Championship in the near future.
