U-15 girls start SAFF Championship journey with 6-0 win over Nepal

Dhaka, December 17: Tohura Khatun slammed a hat-trick as Bangladesh thrashed Nepal 6-0 in their opening match of the SAFF U-15 Women’s Football Championship at the Kamalapur Stadium on Sunday.

Bangladesh’s prowess was too much for the Himalayan state as the hosts netted four in the first and added another two in the second.

Monika Chakma’s blistering effort from the top of the box deflected off a Nepalese defender and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Three minutes later Anu Ching Marma volleyed the second and Tohura made it 3-0 in the 34th minute sneaking past the defence line with a solo effort.

Anu Ching struck her second in the dying minutes of the first half.

After the change of ends, Tohura scored the fifth in the 57th minute and Tohura completed the rout and her hat-trick in the 72nd minute.

Bangladesh play Bhutan in the second match on Tuesday.
