U-16 girls secure dominating 8-0 victory against Lebanon

Dhaka: The Bangladesh U-16 girls have triumphed over Lebanon, the side which faced the red and greens after two dominating wins against Bahrain and UAE at the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers. Coach Golam Rabbani Choton’s team blasted the visitors 8-0 in the Kamalapur Bir Sreshtha Shahid Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium on Wednesday in the match that started at 11:30am. The girls thumped Bahrain 10-0 on Monday and the blistering match against Lebanon tallies 18 goals in just two matches. Sajeda Khatun and Shamsunnahar Junior scored doubles in the match. Tohura Khatun, Anai Mogin, Rojina Akhter scored each while Lebanon conceded an own goal as well. Earlier, Lebanon had defeated Bahrain by 8-0 and UAE by 6-3 goals, but could not stand against Bangladesh. Hosts Bangladesh now top the tables with 6 points and a massive goal difference. Sajeda scored the first goal in the 14th minute after getting a thru from Monika. In stead of making a fight back, Lebanon suffered an own goal in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute, the hosts tripled the lead with Tahura’s quick goal from the D-box. With a 3-0 lead, team Bangladesh had no intention to slow down as Anai scored again in the 26th minute. Sajeda then took the team to 4-0 in the 40th minute with a power shot from close range. The second half was no different as Shamsunnahar Junior took the advantage from a wrong pass and took the lead to 5-0 at the beginning. She scored again at the 63rd minute. Rojina scored the 8th goal in the 75th minute, sealing a dominating victory for the hosts. Bangladesh will face UAE on September 21 in their third match.
