Bangladesh women’s national team flies for Nepal Sunday

Dhaka: Bangladesh women’s national team will compete in the upcoming SAAF Women’s Championship 2019 scheduled to be held from March 12-22 in Biratnagar, Nepal. Ahead of the tournament, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) organized a press conference on Saturday to brief media about the overall preparation of the team. The press conference was attended by BFF Women’s Football Committee chairperson, BFF executive member, SWAFF executive committee member, AFC executive member and FIFA Council member Mahfuza Akter Kiron, BFF member and Media Committee chairman Md. Amirul Islam Babu, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, sponsor organization Dhaka Bank Limited’s head of communications and branding division Khandokar Anwar Ihtesham, BFF technical and strategic director Paul Thomas Smalley, women’s national team head coach Golam Rabbani Choton, captain Sabina Khatun and vice-captain Mossamat Mishrat Jahan Moushumi. The team will leave Dhaka for Kathmandu from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 10:00am on Sunday, March 10. Bangladesh is in Group A with Nepal and Bhutan as Pakistan have withdrawn from the competition. On the other hand, Group B consists of India, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Even though the tournament begins on March 12, Bangladesh will play their first match against Bhutan on March 14 at the Sahid Rangashala Stadium, Biratnagar, Nepal.
