MARCEL becomes title sponsor of BCL 2017

Marcel became the title sponsors of the 2017 season of Bangladesh Championship League.

Bangladesh Football Federation and the sponsors signed a contract and unveiled the logo of ‘MARCEL BCL 2017’ ahead of the season.

‘MARCEL Bangladesh Championship League 2017’ kicked off in August with 10 clubs fighting it out for the BCL trophy.

The participating clubs are Soccer Club Feni, Uttar Baridhara Club, Fakirerpool Young Mens Club, Agrani Bank Sports Club, Police Football Club, T&T Club Motijheel, Victoria Sporting Club, Karwan Bazar Progoti Sangha, Bashundhara Kings and NOFEL Sporting Club.

Referees’ fitness test held at BNS

BFF organised a fitness test for referees under the supervision of the BFF Referees Committee at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The fitness test, second of what will be a quarterly event, is a means to keep tab on the fitness levels of match officials. A total of 110 referees from across the country took part.

The first phase of the fitness test was held on April 7, 2017.

24 referees promoted to first class

BFF arranged a promotion test for active second class referees to get promoted to first class. The test was held on August 12 and 13 from 7 am to 11 am.

A total of 75 referees from all across the country participated.

24 referees passed the test and were duly promoted to 1st class status.

BFF AFC ‘C’ Certificate Coaching Course

The third BFF AFC ‘C’ Certificate Coaching Course ended on a high note with 24 participants from across Bangladesh. The 13-day course had begun at the BFF House on July 26 with the BFF Technical and Strategic Director Paul Smalley. This was the third phase of the BFF AFC ‘C’ Certificate Coaching Course with the previous two phases also being great successes.

In the near future, BFF will convene the AFC ‘B’ Certificate Coaching Course to enhance the capability and knowledge of the local coaches.

U18 boys camp

A expanded squad of U18 boys joined a week long non-residential camp at the Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mohammad Mostofa Kamal Stadium, Kamlapur, Dhaka in mid August.

Selected players from these youngsters will go on to form the Bangladesh national U18 team to take part in the ‘SAFF U18 Championship 2017’ and ‘AFC U19 Championship qualifiers.

The ‘SAFF U18 Championship 2017’ will be held in Bhutan later this month from 18-27 September and the AFC U19 qualifiers will take place in Tajikistan from October 29 to November 9.

The week long non-residential camp was organised with the hope of building a formidable team for the two campaigns ahead.

There was another one-day camp later on August 23 with a selected list of players.

JFA U14 Women’s Nat’l Championship

The Bangladesh Football Federation organised the ‘JFA U14’ Women’s National Football Championship with matches to be played at 6 venues across the country — Laxmipur, Gaibandha, Rajbari, Jessore, Rajshahi and Sherpur.

U15 at SAFF

Bangladesh U-15 national football team made it through to the semi finals as group champions beating Sri Lanka and Bhutan easily before losing to Nepal in a spirited match.

The red and greens ended up with the third place at this edition of the SAFF U15 championship.

SAFF 2018 in Dhaka

Bangladesh will host the 2018 edition of South Asian football championship.

An executive committee meeting, presided by BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) in Kathmandu also decided to hold elections to a new executive body in Dhaka.

The congress meeting agreed on a SAFF Championship 2018 schedule for September 4-15, 2018.

The draw of the 2018 SAFF Championship will be held on March 3, 2018 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The congress election will be held the following day on March 4.

The congress agreed a number of SAFF events for 2018 including U15 Women’s Championship, U18 Women’s Championship, Senior Women’s Championship, U-15 Championship and Championship.
