Rangpur champions in JFA U14 Women’s Championship

Rangpur district became the new champions of the JFA U14 Women’s National Football Championship defeating Mymensingh district 4-2 in tie breaker. Both the teams tried hard to break the deadlock but did not succeeded. After the additional minutes’ play, the Rangpur girls netted four goals out of five shots while the Mymensingh girls could place the ball inside the post only twice. After the match, Youth and Sports Ministry Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, MP, along with BFF Women’s Football Committee Chairman Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, handed over the trophies to the champions and the runners up teams. Apart from the trophies, the champions got Tk 50,000 as prize money while the runners up girls were given Tk 25,000. Magura district won the Fair Play trophy for their amazing cool football. Rangpur’s Shamima Akhter Shila won the Goldren Boot, Highest Goal Scorer’s trophy, for scoring eight goals. Besides, Rangpur’s another player Fatema was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. She was handed over the Goldren Ball. On the other hand, Magura player Anika Tanjum got the Most Promising Player trophy. The BFF has recognised Mymensingh as the Best Regional Venue of the qualifying round of the tournament. The final round of the tournament has been begun on July 12 with eight teams qualified through the preliminary round where a total of 40 teams took part. The JFA U14 National Women’s Football Championship tournament is a talent hunt programme, organized by BFF, patronized by Japan Football Association and cosponsored by Walton.
