SAFF: Bengal girls confirm semifinal eliminating Bhutan 2-0

Bangladesh national women’s team have reached the semifinal of SAFF Women’s Championship beating Bhutan 2-0 in the group stage. Though Bangladesh star forward Krishna Rani Sarkar could not play in the match due to her injury, the Red and Green girls did not feel her absence as Bangladesh won the game with the goals of Captain Sabina Khatun and Mishrat Jahan Moushumi. Earlier, Bangladesh girls faced their subcontinental opponents twice in the same tournament. And both the times, they returned to home with victories. Bangladesh ruled Bhutan in the whole match with possessing the ball most of the time. After creating several chances, Bangladesh got the lead in the match at the first additional minute of the first half. Moushumi placed the ball into the Bhutan post after getting it from Monika Chakma’s corner. Later at the 85th minute, captain Sabina Khatun entered into the Bhutan’s box with the left wing and netted the ball with a powerful shot. After this match, Bhutan has been eliminated from the tournament as they were beat by hosts Nepal 0-3 in their first group match. The Bengal girls now have to win their last group match against Nepal to clinch the group title. The match will be held on Saturday, March 16.
