Jamie Day takes helm of national team, press meet on May 19

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Football Federation National Team’s Committee on Thursday appointed Jamie Day, a British football specialist, as the chief coach of Bangladesh National Football Team.

The newly appointed coach will meet the press on Saturday, May 19 at 12:30pm at the BFF Conference Room in Motijheel, Dhaka.

Representatives of electronic and press media are cordially invited to attend the press meet.

Jamie started playing football at a young age and attended Lilleshall National Sports Centre in United Kingdom along with footballing greats like Michael Owen and Wes Brown. He represented England till the U-18 level and signed a professional contract with Arsenal.

Having his career cut short by injuries, Jamie set his ambitions of being a career coach and coached the youth teams of Arsenal FC and Charlton Athletic. Under the personal recommendation of Eddie Howe and Arsene Wenger, he attained his UEFA ‘A’ Coaching License and moved onto senior Coaching in 2009.

Jamie Day had won the Conference South title with them in 2013. As they were promoted to the Conference Premier, he was also named manager of the year for the 2012/13 season. He moved to Gillingham FC as a First Team Coach and most recently was the Assistant Manager for Barrow AFC.

Jamie Day is a hard-working, highly motivated individual who deals well in high pressure situations. He is vastly experienced in coaching, man management, youth development and sports psychology. His wide range of expertise and versatility in the various leagues in English Football is a major asset for him.
